away day

Last week we had an away day to Brighton for a conference 'Librarians in the Digital Age' and a visit to the Jubilee. Here we are outside it (Mary, Dan and Sam anyway- I was taking the pics). The Library has some great architectural features, including wind towers that regulate the internal heat and ventilation. The innovative design of the building means that this massive library uses only as much energy to run as a domestic four bedroom house.
